About the Anti-Racism Course
This course explores the experiences of people seeking sanctuary in Northern Ireland and examines the impact of racism, prejudice, and hate crime on individuals and communities. Through powerful stories, reflective learning, and interactive activities, participants will gain a deeper understanding of migration, belonging, and the importance of creating inclusive communities. Developed in partnership with Voicing the Void, the course introduces the principles of restorative storytelling and demonstrates how lived experiences can challenge assumptions, build empathy, and encourage meaningful dialogue. Participants will hear personal stories from people who have experienced displacement, explore the realities of the asylum process, and reflect on how prejudice can be challenged through respectful conversation and understanding. By the end of the course, learners will have a greater awareness of the issues facing people seeking sanctuary, an understanding of the role storytelling can play in social change, and practical insights into how they can contribute to more welcoming and connected communities.
